I’ve used this hammer on two trips to Yosemite now and although it is expensive the functions of it are exceptional. The main thing is how well the webbing and head are to attached to the hammer. This is one of the major problems with people using lump hammers from DIY shops; it’s not uncommon for head to come flying off or for the leash they’ve attached to fail, sending a rather heavy lump of wood and metal down the route, potentially endangering other climbers and walkers below.
I love the fact that the pick on the hammer is perfectly suited for putting in copperheads which you won’t find on a normal hammer and also the hole is great to use with funkness device. The pick also fits perfects perfectly in piton holes really well so you can lever them out.
A tad pricey: yes. Quality bit of kit: definitely!
