The Meindl Bernina Lady 2 is a wide fit boot due to Meindl's Comfort Fit last. They have an oiled Nubuk leather upper with locking lace point, Vibram rubber outsole and a protective rubber rand. The technology behind Meindl's Digafix also improves heel hold and stability, preventing the foot from slipping in the boot. The leather lining makes these boots more comfortable in warmer and more humid conditions due to a cooler foot climate. The cork Comfort Fit footbed from Meindl is known to provide a stable platform as you're standing on a wider base, whilst the defined contour allows for the natural roll of your foot when walking.
We often hear of our customers having to buy a boot size that is much larger and longer to accommodate their wide fitting feet. The downside of this is that the flexing point of the boot will be much further back, where the boot is not designed to flex. This means that the individual is not only fighting the boot to flex where it isn’t meant to, but is also increasing the output of energy required to climb up a hill as the toe box of the boot is too far forward.
The Bernina Lady 2 is a take on Meindl’s classic Borneo 2 boot– but with a much wider fitting. It keeps all the fantastic features that you’d find on its brother boot such as the form-fitting memory foam ankle cuff, which hugs and supports your ankle no matter the shape. It isn’t GoreTex lined, so it will have maximum breathability and a greater chance of your feet being as cool as they can be. Because of the oiled nubuck leather and if treated with suitable repellents the Bernina Lady 2 will keep most rainwater and puddle water out but we do not sell this as a fully waterproof boot. We still have a large following of customers who prefer non-GoreTex lined boots as they prefer good breathability, particularly in warm weather.
This supportive boot is ideal for customers wanting a wider-fitting, stronger, firmer flex boot to deal with rough ground and might be considered a great scrambling boot yet is equally at home on the rough ground of the Glyders in Snowdonia and the softer hills of south Wales.

Boot Care:
Sportwax is a natural product formulated to condition and proof leather. Apply it with a sponge or cloth and don’t forget the tongues of the boots. Rub the wax in well. There’s no need to heat it, as this could reduce boot breathability. Waxing changes the appearance of the leather, making it smoother and darker. Applying a little to the hooks and eyelets also protects them against corrosion.
Wetproof spray increases the water resistance of your boots and shoes. This should be applied twice a year after cleaning and prior to waxing or conditioning. It is suitable for leather, suede and fabric footwear.
