Assisted breaking single rope belay device
In common with it's excellent predecessor the Click Up Plus allows the belayer; to arrest a fall simply holding the free end of the rope with the braking hand, to lower the climber by applying a slight pressure over the device while keeping under tension the free end of the rope with the braking hand and ensures effective belaying even if the rope is incorrectly installed in the device.
So what is the Plus for in the CLICK UP +; paying out rope is smoother and easier due to the new shape of the device combined with the accompanying Concept SGL HC karabiner, it is more comfortable for top-rope belays especially when used on chalk filled, furry climbing wall ropes,safety is increased as the chance of error due to incorrect handling of the rope while braking is reduced and it is more ergonomic.
All of the tweeks to the general shape of the device create these improvements but the key additonal safety change is the V-PROOF SYSTEM. During the belaying process maintaining the V-shaped angle of separation between the two sections of the rope with most devices is vital. A reduction in the value of this angle can affect the proper functioning of the device when locking the rope. The V-Proof System, featured on Click Up + reduces the chance of this error occuring due to a mobile partition that facilitates the activation of the assisted-braking system, e.g. if during a fall the braking / live side of the rope comes into contact with the partition this pressure contributes to the rotation of the device and the consequent locking onto the rope.
Included with the Cick Up Plus is the Climbing Technology Concept SGL HC karabiner whihc is a hot-forged light alloy HMS carabiner with a screwgate closer and clean nose to avoid snagging. It can be used with most belay devices but excels with the Click Up Plus and has ample space for use with the Munter hitch. The ACL (belay loop clip) system helps to prevent cross loading whilst awear-resistant hard coat anodizing makes it ideal for regular and prolonged use.
Main features:
it allows for quick and smooth paying out of the rope;
it allows the belayer to arrest a fall holding with the hand the free end of the rope;
the climber can be lowered off with a slight pressure on the device, keeping under tension the rope free end with the other hand;
optimized and suitable for Ø 8.6 ÷ 10.5 mm single ropes;
if the rope is incorrectly installed in the device (the rope sides are inverted), thanks to the specific tapered (V-shaped) friction notches, effective belaying is still ensured, with safe braking and easy lowering of the climber.
