The Evolv Defy climbing shoe is vegan friendly and has a fit that is ideal for beginners or as a first shoe after using rentals. Its breathable upper and comfortable, easy fit and adjustment make it a great choice for long sessions at the climbing wall / gym where its softer midsole make it great for volumes and slopers. The padded split tongue and two opposing strap hook and loop closure (velcro style) provides easy accessibility, swift removal and a secure fit without the need to crush your feet. More experienced climbers will enjoy the comfort and sensitivity given for longer routes outdoors and good levels of durability due to the thicker rubber rand around the toe. The synthetic upper has an antimicrobial liner to ensure lasting comfort and reduce odours, though we still recommend Boot Banana deoderizers with any rockshoe purchase (but especially synthetic shoes).

These Boot Bananas shoe deodorisers are the perfect answer to every climber's problem of smelly, sweaty feet. Simply pop them into your climbing shoes after each use and they will effectively absorb moisture and prevent bad odours. They're best used from the beginning of your shoes life for optimal results, however they will still prevent existing shoes from getting worse. Boot bananas are suitable for use with rockshoes, running shoes and any other 'fruity' footwear!
The Five Ten Kirigami is a great choice for beginners or advanced climbers looking for a more comfortable shoe this has just the right features, and pulls them off really well. We were unsure when Adidas had taken over Five Ten, but they've really surprised us with the Kirigami. We reckon it's the best beginner climbing shoe if the fit's right.
The La Sportiva Tarantula is a great entry-level rock shoe that excels at both indoor climbing and cragging. Featuring fast, functional lacing and a neutral shape, the Tarantula is suitable for all foot types. These are slightly more aggressive than most traditional 'beginners' shoes, so also suit intermediate and multi-pitch climbers. The unlined leather upper and high-volume design offer superb long-term comfort and breathability, yet these are still aggressive enough to perform when needed.
The Boreal Beta is a comfortable, entry level climbing shoe that makes use as a synthetic knitted upper. This makes it a light and breathable model suitable for long climbing sessions. Perfectly suited to newer climbers but equally, if worn tight can be an excellent option for more advanced climbers on vertical or slabby terrain.
The Boreal Beta Eco offers comfort and performance in a more sustainable package. Better for the environment, it includes a recycled textile upper and recycled midsole. Lightweight and breathable, two Velcro straps make them quick and easy to don. Underfoot, Boreal’s Zenith Quattro rubber is grippy yet durable. For novice indoor climbers or those wanting a comfy training pair, the Beta Eco is ideal.
The Boreal Joker Lace is a classic Boreal shoe, and an ideal choice for all-day climbing. The semi-asymmetric last with a slim fitting heel and low tension rand gives enough precision for the difficult moves you may encounter on long routes whilst not being stressful for your feet. The full length lace-up closure system ensures a snug fit and the Air Net lining makes these shoes breathable and comfortable.
