The Life Systems Bite Relief Click is a pocket-sized solution to mosquito bites!
This little device uses a piezo-electric pulse to inhibit histamine release in the area of the bite; less histamine means less swelling. When a mosquito bite breaks your skin, your body recognizes the mosquito saliva as a foreign substance, triggering an immune system response. Your body uses the compound histamine to help white blood cells engage with pathogens in the affected area, but unfortunately causes itchiness, inflammation and swelling. Scratching these irritating insect bites may bring some short-lived relief but ultimately causes your body to end up flooding the area of the bite with more histamine, exacerbating the itchiness of the area: a real vicious cycle! Scratching can also damage the surface of your skin and lead to infection, which is all the more reason to avoid.
The piezo-electricity that the Bite Relief Click works with is an electric charge that accumulates in certain solid materials, such as in the piezo crystal that the clicker contains. The piezo-electric current is only produced when there is mechanical stress being applied on the material – this is why the current is only generated when you click the device and compress the piezo material. It generates a low electrical discharge of around 13kV.
The theory behind why the device works is that the low electrical charge generates warmth over the immediate area of the bite or sting and it’s this generated warmth that inhibits the histamine release.
The Bite Relief Click is a quick, simple and painless means of easing and soothing the annoying itching and pain that come with mosquito bites.
