Features:Small eyelet for releasing unit with a carabiner when bringing up your partnerSuitable for 7.1–10.0 mm double and twin ropesIntelligent hybrid design: body made of ultra-light aluminium, areas susceptible to abrasion made of robust stainless steelGuide mode: simple and rapid abseiling and bringing up seconds plus comfortable belaying from a belay station as a doubled ropeAssisted braking guide mode: brake boost for catching falls in leader modeRope can be paid out faster in assisted braking guide mode by holding the device in the ‘open’ position with the thumb
Technical:Approved rope diameter: 7,1 - 10 mmManual: YesManual braking device according to EN 15151-2:2012
Assisted braking guide mode:1. Belaying the first lead climber in assisted braking guide modeAdvantages:Very high safety reserves due to higher braking performanceLess hand braking force requiredIntuitive to useAllows quickly giving slackSuitable for use with half ropes and twin ropes (depending on model)Minimal kinks in ropeDisadvantages:Dynamic belaying only possible via body dynamicsHandling requires practice
Guide mode:2. Belaying from an anchor point in guide mode3. Belaying the first lead climber in guide modeAdvantages:Universal application (depending on model)—belaying a leader, bringing up a second, body belayOptimal dynamic belayingEasy to useMinimal kinks in ropeLightweightPerfect for abseiling with single and double ropesDoes not damage ropeDisadvantages:Does not block automatically (belaying error can have fatal consequences)Braking performance affected by rope diameter—and conditionCertain devices have less braking performance/ require greater braking hand force
The Mammut Smart 2.0 is a reliable and intuitive belay device with a newly developed brake insert that blocks the rope in the event of a fall. This new version of the Smart belay device offers significantly improved braking effectiveness as well as optimized geometry and intuitive handling.
The Petzl Grigri is n single rope belay device with an assisted braking system. The internal cam pinches the rope as it is weighted, pivoting the device. Along with good belaying technique, the assisted braking helps hold a climber and catch them in a fall. The progressive action of the cam allows gradual control when lowering a climber.
The DMM Pivot belay device delivers confident belaying and effective stopping power whether used in guide mode, or belaying from the waist. Guide plates have traditionally been difficult to operate when lowering seconds. The Pivot's shackle reduces the force needed to initiate lowering, increasing control of the speed at which you lower your second.
The Kong Chuy is a belay device and descender that works on half, twin and single ropes. Choose the braking capacity thanks to the “V” shaped notches, this helps fine tune use according to the climbers weight, rope diameter, and friction and consequently braking required.
The Petzl Reverso is a versatile and lightweight belay/rappel device designed for use with one or two rope strands and the ability to belay a second climber from the anchor. The specific design allows the rope to glide smoothly through the device and reduces wear. It is compatible with most rope diameters: single 8.5 to 10.5 mm, half 7.1 to 9.2 mm, and twin 6.9 to 9.2 mm.
