Long distance faves
Staff Review: I've been trying to vary terrain I'm running on the best I can, taking them through some mud/bog, loose rock, dirt/gravel and open fields/meadow trails.
The upper feels nice. Holds my foot well and doesn't feel like there's much room for any movement while having enough room at the toes. Small thing but I like the braided laces - feels nice on the fingers.
The midsole makes the shoe feel quite fast and responsive which was really nice. Longest run I did was ~45km and my feet didn't feel tired at the end at all and they were pretty comfortable throughout. So I like them for longer distances they did sometimes feel a little unstable at the heels. I have not often run with shoes with a 38/30mm stack height so I'm not certain if it's due to unfamiliarity/technique or not, but I felt like my ankles might want to roll on uneven/technical terrain. While I noticed it more on my right then my left, which would be because I rolled my right ankle a couple weeks before buying the shoes, I didn't find it to be a major issue on most technical terrain as the footprint of the shoe is not very wide so I found it lent itself well to precise footing. The only time I really struggled with it was running through fields where the ground was lumpy underfoot and mostly hidden by grass making it hard to pick my footing.
The outsole rubber easily has the grippiest traction I've ever experienced. Especially on wet rock and really good on wet grass too. Not the deepest lugs so I still found it slippy on thinker mud. Otherwise just generally decent on everything else.
In summary they feel fast and generally very comfortable underfoot. I enjoy running in them. The heel felt unstable at times so I don't like them much for any technical running because of the stack height, but can overcome it if the trail is open and visible. They are definitely becoming one of my favourites for long distances on more open and easier hard packed trails.
