Climbing Harness Fitting Service and Helmet Fitting

To sit alongside our instore bouldering wall and synthetic ice wall for testing out rockshoes, mountain boots, crampons and ice tools we have 2 hanging points for trying out harnesses.

Climbing Harness Fitting Stations

Not only can we help you choose the right harness for you taking into account harness type, the positioning of gear loops and belay loop, the drop (distance) between waist belt and leg loops and the freedom of movement when you wear and climb in it (on our wall), you can also feel how comfortable it is to hang in for prolonged periods and most importantly we get to see if the harness holds you in the correct position when hanging in it and that you get no pressure on your legs, thighs, waist or ribs.

Climbing harness fitting service

Not only can climbers choose from a range of excellent lightweight sport, fixed leg-loop, fully adjustable and alpine mountaineering harnesses, we also have chest harnesses, kid's sit and full body harnesses, caving harnesses and industrial access work positioning and fall arrest harnesses and rigs that we can set you up in to try on a rope from our suspension points.

Choose from Beal, Black Diamond, Blue Ice, Climbing Technology, DMM, Edelrid, Mammut, Ocun, Petzl and Wild Country for your ideal harness.

Climbing Helmet Fitting Service

While you are in the area you can benefit from our large range of helmets, whose fit we can assess for you and adjust to provide the maximum level of safety for your hit on Ogmore, Wintours Leap, your trip to the Alps or your latest winter ascent.

Fitting isn't as straight forward as you expect as you need to make sure the helmet feels comfortable is stable on your head (with or without your poneytail) and wouldn't be pushed of forwards, backwards or sideways in the event of an impact or slide down a snowslope. Any of these can leave your head unprotected, or result in fracturing of our skull. We also have helmets with MIPS technology which is designed to reduce rotational motion during impact which can result in the shearing and/or stretching of brain tissue and increases the risk of brain injuries. Again you have a great choice from Black Diamond, Edelrid, Mammut and Petzl of super durable helmets for regular cragging, super light weight options and all stops in between.
