The surface allows for easy insertion of the rope and exerts the minimum damage to the sheath. As the pressure is spread over the full 360°, the wear on the ring is almost non-existent. Also used to equip improvised abseil stations using cordage and a bolt-chain-carabiner combination.
The shank is knurled; this method of resin fixing has long been the most reliable and resistant, particularly when compared with resin anchors with transversal grooves or horizontal dimpled surfaces which are notoriously unreliable and dangerous! The anchor's eyelet can easily accommodate two carabiners simultaneously or a Ø10 mm folded and flattened rope.
The wing plate is bent at 40° to allow easier clipping. The stainless steel AISI 316L round ring is 10mm in diameter. The internal diameter of the ring is an optimum 32mm, designed to save weight and bulk without impacting on versatility. The ring hangs perpendicular to the face which means top-roping systems can be set up on either side and rope retrieval is easy: a very worthy advantage!
Y&Y Plasfun belay glasses are an inexpensive way to help all belayers from having to tilt their heads back for long periods of time. This helps to relax muscles in the neck area so you are ready when it's your turn to climb.
