The Harvey Maps British Mountain Maps are made in co-operation with the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) and therefore are ideally suited for the needs of climbers and mountaineers. The mapping is 1:40 000 so you get a greater area covered by each map and it doesn't get cluttered with superfine details that can make 1:25 000 maps difficult to read on complex terrain.

Areas where you really need to home in though are covered by 1:20 000 enlargements. The maps are printed on durable, tear-resistant and 100% waterproof polyethylene, which weighs half the weight of a laminated map.

Route finding and map reading is made easier and clearer by the use of colour shading to identify hills and valleys

Also provided is mountain incident and first aid advice, detailed crag information, useful local phone numbers and websites, geological maps supplied by the British Geological Survey (BGS) and tips on map and compass use.
