The DMM Ultra O Screwgate could be described as the perfect climbing karabiner – it certainly performs remarkably well in the big wall environment and the I-Beam construction gives it an excellent strength to weight ratio. Perhaps multi day ascents, sac hauling, portaledges and extreme dehydration are not your bag, but that doesn’t mean you should turn your back on the oval karabiner design.

At some point all of us will need to use a pulley system, most likely in a rescue situation. Oval karabiners are important because they allow pulleys to sit in a correctly loaded and equalised position. The symmetrical shape also stops them shifting under load and potentially dislodging a marginal gear placement. The locking gate adds a final element of security to the system.

Features:
Keylock nose eliminates snagging: This karabiner's nose slots into a groove in the gate, allowing it to achieve full strength without a gate notch. This creates a clean internal profile that won't catch on gear, bolts or slings, giving easier clipping and removal from systems.

Oval karabiner for rigging stability and central positioning of attachments: Oval karabiners have curved rope baskets for compatibility with slings, ropes, pulleys, and devices. The baskets allow attachments to self-centre when loaded, giving greater stability in systems that D shaped carabiners. Their symmetry allows them to work both ways in rigging systems.

I-Beam construction for optimum strength to weight ratio: I-Beam construction techniques allow karabiners to be lighter without compromising strength. This is achieved through hot forging, a process which allows metal to be made into complex shapes that improve functionality.

Available with a captive bar to secure orientation and prevent tampering: Captive bars ensure carabiners load along their strongest axis by securing their orientation, and can also be used to create tamper proof systems that cannot be dismantled by users.
