The Petzl OK Oval has been designed for use with pulleys, but is also very useful as a general purpose karabiner at belays and for caving cow-tails. It has an oval shape that allows optimal loading of devices with a wide cross-section, such as pulleys, rope clamps and mobile fall arresters. This lightweight karabiner is made of aluminium and it is available in three different locking systems.

The Petzl Omni fills a niche market for semi-circular, alloy karabiners. They are primarily used for securing harnesses that use two attachment points that must be connected (such as the Petzl Super Avanti) or where there is likely to be a 3-way load. This multi-directional karabiner is available in two locking systems, the automatic Triact-Lock and the manual Screw-Lock.

The Petzl Freino is a twist-lock karabiner that incorporates an integral braking system for improving friction on descenders and belay devices. Works extremely well with the Grigri when using slimmer ropes such as the Beal Booster, which can normally be a struggle. The Freino is ideal for adding or adjusting friction during descents.

The Raumer Handy allows the user to vary the descent simply by moving the rope into the narrow section of the karabiner, eliminating almost all downwards force. It is equipped with a stainless steel twisted ring which can be clipped into the semi-circular maillon on a harness, this ring makes this karabiner suitable for all speeds of descent on any type of rope.

The Climbing Technology Quick Step A is an ascender for the right or left foot, when used in conjunction with an ascender handle (e.g. QUICK’UP+ or QUICK’ARBOR H) or a chest ascender (e.g. CHEST ASCENDER HC), makes it easier and speeds up the ascent of a rope.

They can be simply plugged into micro USB socket which can be connected to a wall socket or a computer port. The Heightec Pulsar (X-Cam) is a handled ascender for use in rope access. It has been found to be 25% stronger than its most popular sharp toothed competitor, with a breaking load of up to 675kg. Heightec X-Cam ascenders will significantly reduce the possibility of a complete system failure by exerting a considerable hold on a rope after the sheath has broken. It is available in both right and left handed versions.
