Werner Paddles designed the Sherpa Straight Shaft as a top end whitewater kayak paddle, it featrues mid sized blades for reasonable levels of power. This kayak paddle also incorporates a 4 piece design. This enables it to break down to create a four piece kayak paddle which is small and compact. The paddle shaft also features ovalized grips to indicate the correct position of the paddle blades in relation to the hands. The small compact size of this emergency paddle, ensures that it will also fit in the smallest of river running kayaks. The Werner Sherpa incorporates a glassfibre paddle shaft which is then paired with a set of asymmetric glassfibre paddle blades. The paddle blades then increase in thickness twice, as you get closer to the ends. This ensures that the balance between weight and durability is near perfect. The paddle shaft then splits in three locations, firstly in the centre and then right on the ends between the blade and shaft. Each joint is featured with a simple push button design. This can be easily actioned even in the coldest of weather.
