It has a long enough cut that it covers what you need and you don't always need to reach for your waterproof trousers immediately, but the offset hem doesn't interfere when you are going over stiles, etc.

The Kangri Pants are very versatile, they are built to give total wet weather protection for long days in the mountains. Made from a robust 70D GORE-TEX fabric, they have a close fitting cut and design that’s perfect for winter hillwalking, long-distance treks, or your day-to-day machine. They come with articulated knees for freedom of movement in those more demanding moments, and a clever pull-forward elasticated velcro strap to secure them around the waist.
