The Patagonia Men's Micro Puff Hoody offers the best warmth to weight ratio of any jacket they've ever built. It combines ultralight Pertex Quantum for shell and PulmaFill technology as a synthetic insulation, which is a revolutionary alternative to featherlight down. This jacket achieves all the great quality's of a down jacket, but without any of the potential ethical issues that can come with it. The Micro Puff is undoubtedly  a go-to piece of insulation for mixed cold weather conditions.

The Patagonia Micro Puff® Hoody combines ultralight Pertex® Quantum shell fabric with PlumaFill insulation, and the result is the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any jacket we’ve ever created and the highest compressibility of any of our synthetic jackets. It is your go-to insulation piece for mixed (and possibly miserable) cold conditions. The shell fabric is made with NetPlus® 100% postconsumer recycled nylon ripstop made from recycled fishing nets, and the insulation is 100% recycled polyester. Fair Trade Certified™ sewn.

My favourite jacket

Staff Review: I have owned this jacket for around 5 years and whilst it is showing signs of wear it is still going strong. Considering the fact that it only has a 15 denier fabric I think this is quite impressive. Whilst it has the odd patch of tenacious tape on it, it still performs as well as it ever has and is my go-to piece of insultation if I know that there is a strong chance of getting wet. I often use it as my belay jacket for rock climbing as it packs into its own pocket and then can easily be taken up a route attached to your harness for when it is needed. I also use it as a winter belay jacket and will often just put it on over my waterproof when the weather is bad so that I don’t have to take my coat off and potentially get my dry underlayers wet. As it is a synthetic jacket it performs this task much better than anything down would.
