DMM Wallnuts:
Despite their simple appearance, Wallnuts are highly featured pieces of climbing hardware. Different alloy is used for each size - smaller Wallnuts are made from a harder alloy to prevent shearing, while larger sizes are softer so they can bite into placements. Larger Wallnuts feature hollow construction to reduce weight.
Wallnuts can be placed in two different orientations, allowing a single nut to cover a range of cracks. They are tapered across both their face and sides, helping them sit better in cracks that are rarely parallel sided. Grooved faces reduce weight, help the nut seat better in cracks, improve security in shallow placements, and resist lifting out when a leader moves past them.
Wallnuts are mounted on wires that are stiff enough to allow overhead placements, while flexible enough to reduce the chance of lifting out. They are colour coded to correspond with the rest of DMM's protection range, and to give quick and easy selection of the correct size from your harness.
Wallnuts are the basis on which to build a comprehensive climbing rack. Complemented by other, more specialised pieces of protection, they are guaranteed to be the most regularly used piece of protection on your harness.
Features:
Curved taper gives stable placements and resists lifting out: A Wallnut's curving taper fits a wide variety of cracks in different rock types. Their design creates three points of contact between the nut and rock in a placement, giving stable placements that resist lifting out.
Allows placement in two orientations for increased versatility: Passive protection can be placed either side or face on, doubling the number of cracks any single piece can protect.
Grooved faces improve security in irregular rock: Wallnuts and Offsets have a groove machined into their faces, allowing them to sit better in irregular placements and on highly featured rock. This makes them more versatile across different rock types.
Colour coded for easy size identification: The DMM protection range is colour coded on the anodised nut and shrink wrap for quick and easy size selection.
DMM Torque Nuts:
Torque Nuts can be used to protect parallel sided cracks. Their shape means they can be used in multiple orientations, giving you a wide range of placement options with every piece. Lightweight aluminium alloy construction means that despite their low weight, each Torque Nut has a 14kN strength rating.
An extendable sling lets you reduce rope drag without extra quickdraws, and can be replaced with DMM's in-house re-slinging service. Torque Nuts work in all conditions. They are especially useful in winter, when icy cracks cannot be protected with cams. However, Wired Torque Nuts are more resistant to accidental axe strikes and easier to control placing above your head.
Features:
Colour coded for easy size identification: The DMM protection range is colour coded for quick and easy size selection. Colours are co-ordinated across all active protection, for quick selection of alternatives if your first choice doesn't fit.
Extendable sling reduces rope drag and rack weight: Extendable slings allow speedy placement extension without additional quickdraws. Extending placements reduces rope drag when routes change direction, move round corners or over roofs. Simply rack each cam on its own carabiner for a self-contained system that is quick and easy to extend. Carrying less quickdraws minimises rack weight on your harness.
Shape allows placements in multiple orientations: Torque Nuts can be placed in multiple orientations, allowing each piece to fit several sizes and shapes of crack.
Passive protection works in wet and icy conditions: Passive protection works by jamming in constrictions to prevent falls. It is suitable for use in all conditions. Unlike active protection such as cams, passive protection can be used in wet or icy cracks, where friction is reduced.
